Alignment with BPCL’s Corporate Energy Goals

BPCL has established a corporate target to achieve Net Zero operational emissions across Scope 1 and Scope 2 boundaries by 2040. The 1.0 MWp rooftop solar installation expands upon the established clean energy infrastructure at the Bina Refinery site. Existing operational assets at the location include 14 MWp and 4 MWp solar PV plants, a 140 kWp solar parking canopy, 22 kilometers of solar security fencing, and a 5 MW Green Hydrogen production plant. The Green Hydrogen facility utilizes alkaline water electrolysis to generate 2.15 tonnes per day of 99.999% pure hydrogen, abating approximately 9,000 metric tonnes of CO2 annually.

Additional low-carbon initiatives currently being implemented at the Bina site include a 15 MTPD (5.2 KTPA) Bio-CBG (Compressed Biogas) plant utilizing paddy-straw feedstock, projected to achieve an annual carbon abatement of ~20,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent (CO2e), alongside a planned 50 MW captive wind power project in Madhya Pradesh.
