GEON, the new energy business division of Kabra Extrusiontechnik Limited (KET), has executed and commissioned a 10 MW / 20 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) basis. The company informed BSE Limited and the National Stock Exchange of India of the development on 8 October 2026 through a disclosure under Regulation 30 of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015.
The Jaisalmer facility is GEON’s second grid-scale storage project in the state within about a month, adding to the company’s growing presence in utility-scale battery storage.
Project Scope and Execution
GEON delivered the project on a turnkey basis. According to the company’s filing, its scope covered detailed engineering and design, procurement and supply of equipment, installation, testing and commissioning. The work was carried out in accordance with the Rajasthan Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024.
With a power rating of 10 MW and an energy capacity of 20 MWh, the system can deliver its rated output for about two hours on a full charge. The company has stated that the BESS is designed to support efficient energy management, improve grid stability and enable effective integration of renewable energy into the network.
KET described the commissioning as a significant milestone that strengthens GEON’s capability to deliver utility-scale storage projects end to end. The filing did not disclose the client or the project value.
Second Storage Project in Rajasthan
The Jaisalmer commissioning follows GEON’s first 10 MW / 20 MWh BESS at Phalodi, Rajasthan, which KET reported to the stock exchanges on 9 September 2026. That project was commissioned under the requirements of Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPN). In its Q2 FY27 results press release dated 15 October 2026, KET confirmed that the two projects together take GEON’s commissioned grid-scale storage in Rajasthan to 20 MW / 40 MWh.
The company has positioned the Phalodi project as its first extension beyond electric vehicle battery packs into stationary, grid-connected storage. The Jaisalmer project now gives GEON a repeat EPC reference in the same state within a short span.
Khavda and the Wider Storage Portfolio
GEON’s Rajasthan projects form part of a broader energy storage push. At the Khavda Renewable Energy Hub in Gujarat, Phase 1 of a 2.88 GWh BESS was commissioned in June 2026, within five months of project initiation. GEON served as the nodal agency responsible for complete system integration, execution, testing and commissioning, including power conditioning systems, transformers and energy management systems. KET has stated that, following the delivery of Phase 1, the client has initiated Phase 2 of 7.5 GWh.
The Khavda assignment and the two Rajasthan projects give GEON experience across both large-scale integration services and smaller turnkey EPC contracts.
Financial Momentum
The storage milestones come alongside a marked change in KET’s business mix. For the quarter ended 30 September 2026, consolidated revenue rose 64.2% year-on-year to ₹2,210 million, EBITDA grew 116.0% to ₹194 million, and profit after tax increased to ₹39 million from ₹3 million a year earlier. GEON’s revenue grew 2.5 times to ₹1,659 million, contributing 75% of consolidated revenue in the quarter.
For the half year ended 30 September 2026, revenue grew 56.6% to ₹3,455 million and the company reported a profit after tax of ₹22 million, against a loss of ₹73 million in the same period last year. GEON’s share of consolidated revenue rose to 68% in H1 FY27 from 34% a year earlier.
Commenting on the results, Anand Kabra, Managing Director of KET, said, “Geon is now the principal engine of the Company.” He cited the Rajasthan BESS projects and the Khavda programme among the division’s key achievements in energy storage.
The company has also strengthened its balance sheet through a ₹1,410 million (₹141 crore) preferential issue. On 5 October 2026, it incorporated Geon International FZ-LLC in the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone, UAE, as a wholly owned subsidiary that will hold a proposed battery pack manufacturing subsidiary in Vietnam.
Expansion Beyond Grid Storage
Alongside its storage projects, GEON is widening its electric mobility business. According to KET’s Q2 FY27 press release, the division received a Letter of Intent from one of India’s top three two-wheeler manufacturers to develop and supply two battery programmes, along with setting up a dedicated plant in South India. It also secured a Letter of Nomination from Vietnam’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer for battery packs, and has entered the high-voltage battery pack segment for passenger cars with cell-to-pack technology.
About GEON
GEON, formerly known as Battrixx, is described by the company as India’s largest technology-agnostic battery pack manufacturer. It designs, develops and manufactures lithium-ion battery packs and modules for electric vehicles, along with battery energy storage systems, from its facilities in Chakan, Pune. Its parent, KET, is part of the Kolsite Group and is also an established manufacturer of plastic extrusion machinery with over six decades of experience.
Outlook
The Jaisalmer commissioning reinforces GEON’s shift from EV battery packs into grid-scale energy storage. With two projects completed in Rajasthan, a 7.5 GWh second phase initiated at Khavda and fresh capital in place, the company is positioning itself for a larger role in India’s expanding utility-scale storage market.
