Avaada Electro Limited, the solar PV manufacturing arm of the Avaada Group, is entering a decisive phase. The company is preparing for a ₹7,600 crore initial public offering, scaling up an integrated TOPCon manufacturing base in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, and rethinking its export priorities. With its traditional export destination now largely shut, Europe and West Asia have emerged as the most logical growth markets for Avaada’s overseas ambitions, while the domestic market continues to anchor near-term demand.

US Trade Remedies Redraw the Export Map

On September 11, 2026, the US Department of Commerce announced final affirmative determinations in its antidumping and countervailing duty investigations into crystalline silicon photovoltaic cells, whether or not assembled into modules, from India, Indonesia and Laos. Indian producers were assigned a final dumping margin of 123.04%, alongside a subsidy rate of 126.09%. On October 14, 2026, the US International Trade Commission returned an affirmative final injury vote, clearing the way for the Department of Commerce to issue antidumping and countervailing duty orders.

The outcome is significant because the US has historically absorbed the overwhelming majority of India’s solar module exports. With combined duties well above 200% stacked on existing tariffs, shipments of Indian-made cells and modules to the US are unlikely to remain commercially viable, pushing manufacturers towards markets where trade access is open and demand is growing.

West Asia: Proximity and Rising Demand

Avaada has publicly identified West Asia as a key frontier for Indian solar exports. In its published outlook on the sector, the group highlights rising electricity demand and sustainability commitments across the region, names the United Arab Emirates among the new destinations for Indian modules, and points to India’s geographic proximity to Middle Eastern markets as a logistical advantage over distant suppliers. Large utility-scale programmes in the region also suit Avaada Electro’s high-wattage ENLUME G12-720 Wp TOPCon module.

Europe: Carbon Compliance and Certification

Europe’s appeal lies in its scale and its growing emphasis on supply-chain traceability and embedded carbon. The Avaada Group’s broader strategy already reflects this. In August 2026, it signed an MoU with the Haryana Enterprises Promotion Centre for a 300-acre Zero-CBAM Green Industrial Campus in Hisar, with a proposed investment of about ₹10,000 crore. The campus is designed around traceable, round-the-clock renewable power to support manufacturing aligned with the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, and the partners plan investment roadshows in Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium, among other markets.

Product credentials will be central to winning European buyers. Avaada Electro’s modules are certified to IEC, UL and ISO standards and carry TÜV Rheinland and BIS marks. The company was named a Top Performer in the Kiwa PVEL 2026 PV Module Reliability Scorecard for N-type TOPCon modules and earned a ‘Grade A’ classification in Wood Mackenzie’s H1 2025 Global Solar Module Manufacturer Rankings, recognitions that carry weight with international lenders and developers.

Manufacturing Base Built for Scale

Incorporated in 2021, Avaada Electro has 8.5 GW of operational module capacity, comprising 1.5 GW at Dadri in Uttar Pradesh and 7 GW at its integrated facility in Butibori, Nagpur, both producing bifacial glass-to-glass TOPCon modules. On July 13, 2026, the company announced that the first 3 GW line of its 6 GW TOPCon cell facility at Nagpur was operational, with the balance under ramp-up. It plans to reach 13.6 GW of module capacity, 12 GW of cell capacity and 3 GW of ingot and wafer capacity by FY2028, creating an integrated chain from ingot to module. The company also holds a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) award for 3 GW of integrated wafer-to-module capacity. In-house cells will strengthen traceability claims for European buyers and reduce exposure to imported components.

IPO and the Need for Customer Diversification

Avaada Electro filed its Updated Draft Red Herring Prospectus-I, dated August 25, 2026, with SEBI and the stock exchanges. The proposed offer comprises a fresh issue of up to ₹1,600 crore and an offer for sale of up to ₹6,000 crore by promoter Avaada Ventures Private Limited, with ₹1,200 crore of the fresh proceeds earmarked for debt repayment. The company reported revenue from operations of ₹5,303.52 crore in FY2026, up from ₹911.62 crore in FY2025, while profit after tax rose to ₹888.74 crore from ₹173 crore.

This growth, however, has relied heavily on group demand. Avaada Energy, the group’s power generation arm, contributed about 89% of Avaada Electro’s FY2026 revenue from operations. Broadening the customer base, through domestic channel partners as well as overseas buyers, is therefore central to the company’s long-term equity story. Export orders would also help absorb the additional module and cell capacity scheduled to come online by FY2028.

Outlook

The shift will not be without challenges. Europe and West Asia are both price-competitive markets where Chinese suppliers remain dominant, and Indian manufacturers will need to compete on quality, bankability, traceability and delivery reliability rather than on price alone. For Avaada, the combination of all-TOPCon production, growing cell integration, international certifications and a group strategy built around carbon-compliant industry offers a credible base for that transition. As US duty orders take effect, how quickly manufacturers like Avaada turn interest in these regions into contracted volumes will shape the next phase of India’s solar exports.
