Karnal-based Oswal Pumps Limited has received a ₹235.92 crore order from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for 10,000 off-grid solar water pumps. The company disclosed the order to the stock exchanges on 30 October 2026. The systems are to be installed within 60 days of the Notice to Proceed under the PM-KUSUM B scheme and Maharashtra’s Magel Tyala Saur Krishi Pump Yojana. The order value includes GST. It follows an order of the same size and value disclosed on 4 July 2026.

Key Details of the Order

According to the disclosure filed under Regulation 30 of the listing regulations:

  • Customer: Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, a domestic entity
  • Quantity: 10,000 off-grid DC solar photovoltaic water pumping systems
  • Ratings: 3 horsepower (HP), 5 HP and 7.5 HP
  • Scope: design, manufacture, supply, transport, installation, testing and commissioning at identified farmers’ sites
  • After-sales: complete system warranty, repair and maintenance, and a remote monitoring system for 5 years
  • Timeline: installation within 60 days of the Notice to Proceed or Work Order
  • Value: ₹235.92 crore approximately, including GST

The order works out at about ₹2.36 lakh per pump including GST, though the filing does not give the split across the three ratings. It also does not name the districts or the GST component. Oswal said neither its promoter group nor any group company has an interest in MSEDCL, and that the order is not a related-party transaction.

Management Comment

Chairman and Managing Director Vivek Gupta said the additional order marks a significant milestone and reaffirms the confidence of the company’s institutional partners. He said Oswal remains committed to timely execution and product reliability. Gupta described Maharashtra as a key market and said the repeat order reinforces the company’s association with MSEDCL. He added that the company aims to support the state’s transition towards sustainable agricultural infrastructure.

Policy and Market Backdrop

Pricing in the scheme was under pressure in the June quarter. In its Q1 FY27 release of 9 August 2026, Oswal said industry-wide competitive bidding under Magel Tyala had cut its realisations by 9%. That helped reduce its margin on earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) to 17.1%, from 24.2% in Q4 FY26.

Gupta also said in August that the rollout of PM-KUSUM 2.0 had been delayed. As a result, the company was diversifying beyond government-led solar irrigation. It was evaluating entry into the Jal Jeevan Mission, where it identified an addressable pipeline of about 42,000 pumps. Rooftop, utility and commercial and industrial solar projects form the other part of that shift.

Backward Integration

The company is also investing in its own supply chain. Its 1.2 GW TOPCon cell facility is meant to meet about 75% of the cell requirement of subsidiary Oswal Solar Energy Private Limited, with the entire output for captive use. About ₹296 crore of the cost is proposed to be funded through debt, and ₹159.85 crore from unutilised initial public offering proceeds of ₹163.04 crore, subject to shareholder approval. The company said its existing and planned module lines, a line of about 570 MW plus 1 GW being set up, are sufficient for current requirements.

About Oswal Pumps

Oswal Pumps describes itself as a vertically integrated solar pump manufacturer with over two decades of experience in pump engineering. Its products include solar and grid-connected submersible and monoblock pumps, electric motors and solar modules, sold under the Oswal brand. The company is listed under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

In Q1 FY27, total income fell 6.5% to ₹481.7 crore from ₹515 crore, and profit attributable to owners fell 43.1% to ₹53.8 crore from ₹94.7 crore. EBITDA was ₹82.5 crore. For the full year FY26, total income was ₹2,085.9 crore and profit was ₹376.3 crore. In August 2026, the pump order book stood at 22,025 units, with a near-term pipeline of 12,500 pumps. The solar engineering order book was about 72 MW, against a wider pipeline of 359 MW.

The Company’s Recent Pipeline

According to Oswal Pumps’ stock exchange filings in 2026:

  • July 2026: Received an additional order from MSEDCL for 10,000 solar pumps, also worth ₹235.92 crore including GST, to be executed within 60 days.
  • August 2026: Won a further 20 MW rooftop solar order from North Bihar Power Distribution Company Limited under PM Surya Ghar, worth ₹78 crore including GST, across 18,089 consumer sites of 1.1 kW each.
  • September 2026: Received a Letter of Intent from Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation for 46,705 kW of rooftop solar at 9,937 government schools in 33 districts, worth ₹297.50 crore including GST, with installation due within 180 days.
  • October 2026: Approved a 1.2 GW TOPCon solar cell facility through subsidiary Oswal Solar Energy Private Limited, at an estimated cost of ₹456 crore, with commercial production expected by April 2028.

Outlook

The date of the Notice to Proceed has not been disclosed, and it will set the installation deadline. The company’s Q2 FY27 results will show whether margins have held after the 9% fall in realisations. Gupta said in August that PM-KUSUM 2.0 had not yet been rolled out, so any launch date would matter to the pump business. Commercial production at the 1.2 GW cell plant is expected by April 2028.
