The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) has formally adopted a tariff of ₹2.45 per kWh for 1,200 MW of solar power projects under SECI’s Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Program Phase-II (Tranche III). The Commission rejected SECI’s petition to approve a higher tariff of ₹2.57/kWh, adhering strictly to the rate discovered during the competitive bidding process managed by IREDA.
While the tariff was capped, the Commission recognized that recent increases in GST constitute a “Change in Law” event, allowing for possible adjustments. These projects are designated for self-use by government entities or for sale to DISCOMs, provided the usage charges do not exceed the specified limit.
