NLC India Renewables Limited (NIRL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NLC India Limited—a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Coal—has awarded a turnkey Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to Pace Digitek Limited (BSE: 544550, NSE: PACEDIGITK). The award involves the implementation of a 250 MW / 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Tamil Nadu. The project was secured following a competitive bidding process under the State Component of the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme.

Project Specifications & Technical Scope

  • Total Capacity: 250 MW / 500 MWh.
  • Contract Value: ₹709.919 Crore (₹7,099.19 million), inclusive of GST.
  • Substation Locations: Ottapidaram, Anuppankulam, and Kayathar in Tamil Nadu.
  • Technical Specifications: Integration with TANTRANSCO substations operating at 400/230/110 kV voltage levels.
  • Included Scope of Work: Complete design, engineering, manufacturing-linked supply, installation, testing, and commissioning, including all associated civil, structural, and infrastructure works.
  • Explicit Exclusions: The supply of power transformers is excluded from this contract scope.

Execution and Maintenance Timelines

  • Commercial Operation Declaration (COD): The project must be completed and commissioned within 12 months from the date of the Letter of Award.
  • Operations & Maintenance (O&M): A 12-year comprehensive O&M service agreement will commence following the commissioning of the project.
