Project Commissioning Overview

In November 2022, SJVN Limited announced the successful commissioning of a cumulative 75 MW capacity at the Parasan Solar Park. The facility is situated in the Jalaun district of Uttar Pradesh. The project was implemented by SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN Limited. To facilitate the distribution of the generated power, SJVN entered into a formal Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). This offtake agreement is secured for a fixed duration of 25 years, ensuring long-term grid integration under the terms established during the bidding phase.

Corporate Milestone: Total Installed Capacity

At the time of its commissioning in November 2022, the 75 MW Parasan station brought SJVN’s total corporate installed capacity to 2,091.5 MW. This milestone reflects the company’s diversification from its primary focus on hydroelectric assets into the solar energy sector.

SJVN Limited is a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) and operates as a joint venture between the Government of India and the Government of Himachal Pradesh. While the company has since expanded its portfolio further, the Parasan project represented a specific capacity increase for its solar operations in the 2022-2023 fiscal period.

Implementation and Bidding Framework

The project was executed under the Build Own and Operate (BOO) model, which requires the implementing agency to manage the development, financing, and long-term operation of the asset. The procurement of the project was finalized through a tariff-based competitive bidding process conducted by UPNEDA. This framework follows the standards set by the Ministry of Power and the Government of Uttar Pradesh to ensure the cost-effective deployment of renewable energy infrastructure.
