Axis Energy Secures EPC Contract for 552 MWp Andhra Pradesh Solar Project Integrated with BESS

Solar project in Anantapur forms part of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid development backed by Evren

Axis Energy has secured the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 552 MWp utility-scale solar power project in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The project is being developed by Evren, the renewable energy platform backed by Brookfield and Axis Energy, and is targeted for commissioning within the next 18 months.

The solar project forms part of a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project integrated with battery energy storage systems (BESS) and connected to the state grid. The development is designed to support Andhra Pradesh’s peak power demand, with renewable electricity intended to be supplied during peak periods.

The EPC award expands Axis Energy’s role in the hybrid development, where the company is also executing the wind component. The project brings together large-scale solar generation, wind capacity and battery storage within a single renewable-energy platform.

640.5 MW wind component under execution

Alongside the 552 MWp solar EPC contract, Axis Energy is executing EPC works for the project’s 640.5 MW wind component. Current reporting states that construction of the wind component is underway.

Axis Energy’s official project portfolio identifies the development as a 400 MW BBB Wind Solar Hybrid Project in Andhra Pradesh. The company’s project information lists 640.5 MW of wind capacity at Eruru in Kurnool district and 400 MW of solar capacity at Tadipatri in Anantapur district. It also identifies connectivity through the Uravakonda and Talaricheruvu STU substations.

The different capacity figures represent different aspects of the project and should not be added together as a single generation-capacity figure. The 552 MWp figure refers specifically to the solar EPC project announced by Axis Energy, while the 640.5 MW figure relates to the wind component identified in the company’s project portfolio.

BESS integrated with the hybrid configuration

Battery energy storage is a defined part of the hybrid project. The solar development is being implemented within a wind-solar configuration that incorporates BESS and is connected to the state grid. The project is intended to provide renewable power during periods of peak demand.

The inclusion of BESS places the development within the growing segment of renewable projects designed around more targeted power delivery rather than generation from a single variable renewable source. Axis Energy’s official portfolio states that its hybrid projects combine wind, solar and energy-storage technologies including BESS and pumped hydro to support firm and dispatchable renewable-energy requirements.

For the Anantapur development, however, the company has not publicly disclosed the project’s specific BESS power rating, storage duration or battery technology in the sources reviewed. Those specifications should therefore not be assumed from the broader project description.

Part of Evren’s broader renewable-energy platform

The project is being developed through Evren, which is backed by Brookfield and Axis Energy. Axis Energy has been working with Evren on large-scale hybrid renewable-energy developments involving wind, solar and energy storage.

In April 2026, Axis Energy announced that Evren had raised USD 600 million in debt financing for construction of a 1 GW firm and dispatchable renewable-energy hybrid project across Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan. The financing announcement further demonstrates the scale of the renewable portfolio being developed through the Brookfield-Axis platform.

Axis Energy’s current project portfolio also lists multiple wind, solar and hybrid developments under implementation, reflecting the company’s expanding EPC and development activities across renewable-energy technologies.

18-month commissioning target

The immediate milestone for the 552 MWp solar project is its announced 18-month commissioning timeline. The solar EPC award represents a significant execution package for Axis Energy within the wider hybrid development, while the associated wind and BESS components form part of the project’s broader renewable-energy configuration.

With the solar EPC contract now secured, Axis Energy is positioned to execute both the solar and wind components of the hybrid development. The project’s progress will be closely linked to the execution of these components and their integration within the overall renewable-energy configuration.

The Anantapur project adds another large-scale hybrid renewable development to Andhra Pradesh’s clean-energy pipeline, combining 552 MWp of solar EPC capacity with a 640.5 MW wind component and BESS integration under the Evren platform. Its targeted commissioning within 18 months makes execution progress an important milestone for Axis Energy and the broader development.
