On April 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Sangam Solar One Private Limited, a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Ltd, commissioned a new 3,000 MW (3 GW) solar module manufacturing facility in Samakhiali, Kutch district, Gujarat. The commencement of operations at this site reinforces Waaree Energies’ position as India’s largest solar module manufacturer and significantly scales the company’s domestic production capabilities to meet rising clean energy infrastructure demand.

Technical Specifications and Manufacturing Milestones

The facility utilizes a modular production architecture, a strategic configuration designed to enable faster ramp-up cycles and greater adaptability to evolving solar technology standards. Technical and operational parameters of the facility include:

  • Total Annual Manufacturing Capacity: 3,000 MW (3 GW).
  • Production Infrastructure: 4 modular lines, each with a capacity of 750 MW.
  • Product Type: Solar PV modules.
  • Production Velocity: The facility contributes to a broader corporate production rate of approximately 52 modules per minute.
  • Operational Achievement: Supported by this capacity, Waaree recently became the first Indian solar manufacturer to exceed 1 GW of module production in a single month.

Site Expansion and Regional Manufacturing Footprint

The Samakhiali facility represents a phased expansion of Waaree’s industrial footprint in Gujarat. In November 2025, Sangam Solar One established an initial foundation at this site by activating two 750 MW lines (1.5 GW total). Combined with the new 3 GW commissioning, the site now constitutes a major manufacturing hub.

This development follows the November 14, 2025, commissioning of a 2.1 GW module facility in Degam, Navsari district. The Degam plant consists of two specialized production lines of 1,050 MW each. Collectively, these regional expansions have added 3.6 GW of capacity to the company’s portfolio. The Samakhiali site benefits from significant logistics infrastructure, including proximity to major highway networks and the proposed bullet train station in Vapi, which is expected to reduce transit time from Mumbai to under 45 minutes.

Corporate Context: Waaree 2.0 Integration Strategy

The expansion is a component of the “Waaree 2.0” framework, which seeks to transition the company into a vertically integrated global energy platform. This strategy involves securing the full solar value chain, including polysilicon, ingots, wafers, cells, and modules.

Key integration milestones include a strategic investment in United Solar Holdings (Oman) to secure a non-Chinese, fully traceable polysilicon supply chain. Additionally, the company is developing a 10 GW solar ingot and wafer manufacturing facility in Butibori, Nagpur, representing an investment of approximately INR 62 billion.

Further supporting the order book, the company secured a 500 MW module supply order from a domestic independent power producer (IPP), scheduled for execution during the 2026–27 fiscal year.

Logistics, Regulatory Compliance, and Governance

The commissioning was formally disclosed via regulatory filings in accordance with SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations. Waaree Energies Ltd is listed on the BSE Limited (Scrip Code: 544277) and the National Stock Exchange of India (Trading Symbol: WAAREEENER).

The governance of Sangam Solar One Private Limited is overseen by a board of directors including Amit Ashok Paithankar, who also serves as the Whole-Time Director and CEO of Waaree Energies Ltd, alongside Pujan Pankaj Doshi and Ankit Hitesh Doshi. The Samakhiali facility officially entered its operational phase at 10:00 a.m. on the date of commissioning.
